In this Sockless Special Edition, we will help you prepare your home to be Sockless Ready.
We will go over some key points that create the best vibe for a Sockless Home!

+ ON-SCREEN

As I watch the countless home tours on the tube, I can’t help but say to myself:
“If I am spending a Million Dollars on a home, I wouldn’t want my realtor being the first one to track dirt through my new luxury home.” I get it, being a realtor is about having a good appearance. But the lesson here is to be presentable inside and out in many ways.

There are some who just get it.
In the opening of the video, you will see them in a pair of designer heels in front of the property as they go over the specs. Once they are inside the home, they are barefoot. This is my favorite opening scene for a house tour. It brings a level of comfort and warmness to the visual.

A luxury home isn’t the same as regular homes, so the buying experience should be luxury. If I’m paying a Million Dollars for a home, I expect a Million-Dollar presentation.

For a Female Realtor, Sockless would be best. It brings softness to the showing, and it doesn’t break the vibe of the house.  Remember presentation is key, so if you have bad feet or don’t like to show them off, wear some dark stockings. But investing in your Self-Care will make you presentable and comfortable during your showing.

For Male Realtors, Socks are the go-to. What if your socks matched the decor of the house? What if your socks were the favorite brand of the home buyer? Both options would spark personal interest with home buyers.

When a realtor first walks into a showing and takes their shoes off, it invites the buyer to kick off their shoes as if they just walked into their new home.

Enough is enough. We must stop following the foolishness: shoes at the pool and shoes in the tub!?

I get so mad at the TV every time I watch a home tour, and everyone is around the pool with shoes on. It shows you don’t use your pool. But when a host steps into the pool while showing the pool, it makes me want to get my swimwear!

Who takes a bath with stilettos on? So, why did the realtor just step in the tub with shoes on? If you are planning to do a home tour, please keep the shoes out of the pool, tub/shower, and off the bed/couch.

+ WELCOME HOME

Shoes off at the door!
Let’s do some housekeeping for the host. First things first, if you going to ask someone to remove their shoes at the door. Your home should be Sockless Ready: Which means your home is clean enough for someone to walk around Sockless. Some people’s houses are so bad, you can’t even walk around in your socks. But today we are talking about the person who work hard to have a nice home.

CREATE YOUR OWN: Sockless Guest Bag
Here are some essentials for your Guest Bag:
Towel | Spray Bottle/Wet Wipes |Oil/Lotion | Shoe Bag | Socks

+ First off, you don’t need a fancy bag for this.
A simply Gift Bag will work this.
(But the better the bag, the better the presentation.)
+ A small face towel will work as a good foot towel.
(You can opt for a Super Plush cloth for your fancy friends)
+ A small spray bottle to fill with water or wet wipes,
are good for your guest to wipe their feet off.
+ You can get some small jars online or from a hobby shop,
to share your favorite oil or lotion with your guest.
+ For a shoe bag you can use a grocery bag or
order some fancy ones online.
(Just something for your guest to put their shoes in
when they come in and kick them off.)

The key point to the shoe bag is
the concept of not having shoes lying around,
instead, they are tucked off in the Guest Bag!
+ Socks are optional but also can play a good part in a Sockless Home.
On a Sockless night, if your guest needs to go outside,
they can put on socks instead of fumbling with their shoes.
The socks can go on and off easy,
and then they can get thrown in the Guest Bag.
Maintaining the vibe and the aesthetics.

+ HOME CARE

Homecare is as important as Selfcare. On a Sockless Night, if you have carpet, you should vacuum before your guest arrive. If you have hardwood or other types of flooring, you should mop or swifter the area you are going to be in. Afterwards, put a fresh pad on the swifter and keep it in the area, this in case of spills or unexpecting debris. Keeping a Sockless Home clean, is a pedicure for your home. The better you clean, the better it looks!

Now let’s do some housekeeping for Sockless Guest.
If you are a Sockless Guest at someone’s house, you should respect their house. Make sure your feet and your socks are clean. It shows respect to the home and self-respect. Now, if your feet are done up that’s just a flex.

A good host will offer you a towel, or you can ask. Why? Keep this in mind: on those summer days when you’ve been wearing sandals, you can wipe off the outside dirt before y’all chill.
If you have Boot-Feet you can wash off your feet, and change your socks for some fresh ones, or go sockless to air out and let your feet breathe. Take your old socks, and spay them with disinfecting spray or perfume, then take them and put them in your boots/shoes. If your host provides a Guest Bag, you can store these items comfortably away from the vibe.

If you want to be the ultimate Sockless Guest, you can bring your own Sockless Bag that you customize to ensure your comfortable no matter where your at.

This goes for the home with the all-white rugs, the cream sectional with the matching carpet, that one friend whose place looks like an art gallery. Let’s respect the Vibe!

Ok, I will be the one to say it: “If I spent 10k on a couch, I don’t care how much your shoes cost, you bet NOT put them on my couch!” Even if your friend only has that black flax-leather futon from Walmart, but they always keep their place clean and neat, give them the same respect as the mansion. Luxury is a way of living and it starts in the home!
